Online Catechetical Course Wraps Up!

      Ms. Denise Puckett of the Archdiocesan Faith-Formation staff recently wrapped up an online course with her students.

      The web course was called Overview of Catechetical Ministry, Part I. Student feedback and evaluations included the following:

                 "This course is on the mark. I have taken online webinars, etc., in my      

                  professional life, but none in my spiritual life. I like technology and hope

                  that the Archdiocese will continue to develop ongoing formation courses 

                  through this medium."

      The Faith-Formation staff uses the Moodle Made Easy, CRTeacher2 program to provide online coursework.

Moodle is a web-based, subscription software that is a 'learning management system.'

Archbishop Seeks Input and Ideas for the Synod on New Evangelization Coming in Ocotber

During August, Archbishop Joseph P. Kurtz convened several meetings to hear the ideas, views, and feedback of various   Why Catholic?  group members.

A key subject of discussion at each gathering was the upcoming  Synod on the New Evangelization, scheduled for October. Participants came from a number of locales in the Archdiocese to attend.

How does the Church effectively connect, engage, and proclaim the Good News of Catholic faith with teens today in a manner that moves them toward discipleship? This presentation will discuss important principles and strategies to assist parish leaders in forming young people into agents of evangelization.

Mike Theisen    has been engaged in adolescent catechesis and youth ministry for over 25 years, authoring more than fifteen books and numerous articles. His experience extends from volunteer roles and staff positions at the parish, diocesan and national levels. He is a frequent speaker and trainer throughout the U.S. Michael is the Director of Membership Services for the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) in Washington DC and is extensively involved in both the Partnership for Adolescent Catechesis, and the He has been engaged in adolescent catechesis and youth ministry for over 25 years, authoring more than fifteen books and numerous articles. His experience extends from volunteer roles and staff positions at the parish, diocesan and national levels. He is a frequent speaker and trainer throughout the U.S. -- Michael is the Director of Membership Services for the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM) in Washington DC and is extensively involved in both the Partnership for Adolescent Catechesis, and the Strong Catholic Families: Strong Catholic Youth national initiatives.
